Being Two: Tantrums & Timeouts

August 12th 2013,
Asleep at Last
Leon,
Being two years old means pushing the limits in everything you do. You love to test the boundries and you have mastered the temper tantrum. From what I have heard from my parents and from vague memories I have realized you inherited this trait from me. You get overwhelmed and full of emotions and once the temper tantrum begins I just have to wait it out until you get it all out. When you are misbehaving and out of control that is when you get put in your room for a timeout. I tell you that you can come out when you are calmed down and ready to apologize. You scream and cry as loud as possible while laying on the floor kicking the door. Eventually you stop and get quiet. Next I hear you calling for me. That is when I go in and sit down with you to talk. We talk about why you were in trouble and why what you were doing was not nice. You say sorry, give me a kiss and a big hug and we go about our day as usual. These temper tantrums are occuring more and more lately and it can get pretty exhausting for both of us. Being two years old is tough and so is learning all the life lessons a two year old must learn, but I know we can get through it together. I love you Leon, my strong willed little man!
