Spontaneous Dancing

I love my silly boy!

Leon,

       This morning after our routine of breakfast and cartoons I thought we would change things up a bit. You were in a happy/hyper mood so I cleared the living room floor and put on some music with a good beat. Instantly you started dancing and jumping around, so I joined in with you. You thought this was funny and started giggling and dancing even more. After half an hour of spontaneous dancing we were both laughing and out of breath, so we sat down for a rest and each had a popsicle to cool off. Popsicles are one of your favorite treats. I think spontaneous dancing and a little laughter is a great way to start the day! I love you Leon, my silly boy!

A Restful Day

Nap time with kitty.

Leon,

      Weekends are often busy, so by the time Monday comes around I am a little low on energy. Today was one of those Mondays, so we took it easy and had a restful day. We spent the early morning playing quietly, coloring and watching cartoons. Then you helped me fold and put away the clean laundry. While you ate your lunch I started a loaf of bread in the bread machine. You and Daddy both really love homemade bread. Since you decided to finger paint your highchair and yourself with the blackberry jam from your pb&j sandwhich, you got a bath right after lunch. Then came nap time right on scheduel. I was feeling tired by the time you fell asleep, so I relaxed and watched a TV show while you slept. It is good to have restful days and today was a great one! I love you Leon!

Making Friends

 New Friends!

Leon,

       After church today we went over to your Abuelito and Abuelita's house to visit. There were a lot of kids there for you to play with, which you were very excited about. The weather was nice, so you played with all of the kids outside on the porch. I loved watching you talk and interact with all of the kids, and I even heard you say "Hola!" for the first time. It is great to see you picking up on a few spanish words as your vocabulary grows.

       For lunch we had beans and cheese with tortillas. You love burritos and kept shouting "Beans, beans!" excitedly. After filling up on lots of beans and cheese we let you play for awhile longer and then we headed home for a nice afternoon nap. I love Sundays and I love you Leon!

Saturday Family Day

Chips & Salsa!

 Nap Time Car Ride

Leon,

       Saturday, family day, is a day you, Daddy and I spend together. Today after our late morning grocery shopping trip you fell asleep in the car on the way home. After taking our groceries home, Daddy and I decided we would all take a spontaneous trip out of town. You got to take a good nap while Daddy and I took a nice drive. When you woke up we went to lunch at a great mexican restaurant. You LOVED the chips, salsa and bean dip! I think you ate a whole bowl of salsa with your chips, as well as part of my bean burrito. We finished our lunch, cleaned up your salsa mess as best we could and then headed to the outlet mall to do a little window shopping. We brought your stroller with us and took a nice walk around all the stores. After awhile you began to get grumpy (you are working on getting your two year old molars, ouch) so we headed back home. I love days like today, when we all get to spend the day together as a family. I love you with all my heart Leon!

Cousins

Playing Together

Leon,

       This evening we had your cousin Natalia and her Mommy and Daddy over for dinner. You were so excited all day saying "Nani! Nani!" (that is how you say her name), because you knew your friend was coming over to play. As soon as she came over you showed her your slide in your room and all of your toys. You did very well sharing your toys, I was so proud of you. Eventually you two pulled out the mega blocks, and that is when the real fun began! Block by block you brought each piece out into the living room were all the adults were sitting and began building a tower. You worked together as a team to build a tall tower, placing each block ontop of the next until it inevitably fell over with a crash. Again and again you both did this until soon it was beyond bedtime. You said "bye bye" to your cousin and they went home. As soon as they left you grabbed your kitty stuffed animal and your blanket and said "night night" to tell me you were ready to sleep. Two bedtime stories later, you were fast asleep. We had a fun evening hanging out with family. Goodnight and sweet dreams Sweetpea! I love you Leon!

Playdate on a Sunny Day

Happy Boy!

       We had a fun playdate today with Mommy's friend and her seven wonderful kids. You had a blast at the park for two whole hours! You loved having all those kids to play with, following them around like a cute little shadow. Mommy got to sit and talk with her friend enjoying the sunshine while you played and ran out all of your energy. At noon we left to pick up Daddy for lunch. You at your snack in the car and fell asleep within minutes. I love fun and beautiful days like today. We are so blessed! I love you Leon!

Leon,

       Another warm sunny day meant more playing outside! I think "outside" is your new favorite word at the moment. You love playing in the grass, looking at bugs, blowing bubbles and anything else that involves being outside. Since the weather has been so nice I decided to get out the sidewalk chalk and let you color the pathway to our door. You made some nice scribbles but then you turned to me and said "Mommy!" and pointed at the ground. I asked you "What do you want Mommy to draw?" and your first answer was "A puppy!" followed by a kitty, a car, and a big snake! Soon we ran out of drawing space, so being the smart boy you are you found a new place to create your art, your slide. Soon the slide was covered in powdery chalk colors and so were you. At least it was easy to wash off. What a fun day of play we had outside today! I love you Leon, my little artist!

Fun in the Sun!

Outside Play on a Sunny Day!

Leon,

       As the sun came up this morning I realized there wasn't a cloud in the sky. By the time you were awake and finished eating breakfast the sun was shinning and the sky was a beautiful blue. After catching up on a few chores I knew we had to take advantage of such wonderful weather. We put on some summer clothes and took your new slide outside in the yard for the first time. You loved sliding down yelling "Weee" and landing in the soft green grass. While you went up and down the slide again and again, I sat in the grass enjoying the warm sun. Playing hard made you hungry, so we had a mini picnic of strawberries, cheese and apple juice. Yum! I think we both enjoyed this sunny day today! I love you Leon!

Rocking Out With Daddy!

Air Drumming With a Spoon!

Tired Little Man.

Leon,

       While I folded and put away the laundry, you and Daddy were in your room playing. Suddenly I heard rock and roll music coming from your room. I went to inspect and see what you two were up to, and found you dancing and "drumming" as Daddy played music on his Ipod through your stereo. You jumped, spun, kicked and wiggled all around the room while air drumming wildly with a big plastic spoon. This lasted for over half an hour until you were sweaty and exhausted. That is one way to get you ready for bedtime, followed by a bath and snuggle time of course. Goodnight and sweet dreams my little rock star! I love you Leon!

Who Needs Sleep?

Trying to escape bedtime!

Leon,

       Lately getting you to take a nap or go to bed at night has been fairly easy. Today was the exception as you wanted to stay awake no matter what! You, Daddy and I slept in this morning until 8:30am, which is probably what threw off your scheduel. At noon we took you over to Grandma's (Daddy's Mama) house so you could play while we went home and worked on cleaning out your soon to be sister's room. When we picked you up at 3pm we thought for sure you would fall asleep on the way home, but you had other plans. We tried everything to get you to fall asleep and take a good nap, but to no avail. Finally at 5pm, knowing that you really needed a nap, we put you in your stroller and went for a walk around the neighborhood. Within 15 minutes you were fast asleep! I only wish we would have done this sooner.

      Bedtime wasn't nearly as much of a struggle, but your sleeping scheduel was completely thrown off so bedtime came later than usual. After reading four books and singing "The Wheels On The Bus" (you make us sing that song every night) you snuggled up with Daddy and fell asleep without a fight. Now it is time for Mommy and Daddy to go to sleep, because we all have to be up early for church tomorrow. Sweet dreams Leon! I love you!

Early Bird

Snacks and a movie in bed.

Leon,
       Waking up at 6:30am this morning, like the little early bird you are becoming, you decided you wanted to watch a movie in bed while you ate breakfast. I think you woke up early and realized you were still tired, but not tired enough to let Mommy go back to sleep. You contently watched Tangled (for the 100th time) as you snuggled under your blankets and ate apple slices and drank some milk. Even though I would have loved to sleep in later, I love mornings like these. The house was peaceful and quiet as I slowly made a pot of coffee and got ready for the day. Of course this peaceful quietness lasted only 30 minutes, but it was a wonderful way to start the day. I love you Leon, my sweet little early bird.

A Fun Trip!

My Sweet Little Boy

Leon,

       A long and fun day is how I would describe today. We got to go out of town with Nana so she could get her allergy shot. While there, we went to lunch. You loved your chicken strips and french fries, with plenty of ketchup and ranch to dip of course! You even said "fries" for the first time! I love hearing all the new words you are learning everyday! Our table was seated just beneath the radio speaker, so as you ate you danced and drummed to the beat of each song. It was both adorable and entertaining to watch!

       After lunch we headed over to Mommy and Nana's favorite store to do a bit of shopping! You were such a good and patient boy as we browsed the store and I tried on some new clothes. You got some new clothes too, including a Tigger shirt that you insisted on putting on as soon as we got home. Nana bought you a little toy bus as well for being such a good boy. When we got home you used your slide as a ramp to make your little bus "vroom" across the room. You are always such a good boy on car rides, and you napped both on the way up and on the way back home. We had a lot of fun hanging out with Nana today! I love you Leon!

2 Year Check Up & Play Time at Nana's

Mama's Trouble Maker!

Play Time/Mess Making Time!

Leon,

       Today you had your 2 year check up at the doctor's office. You recieved, much to your dislike, your last set of vaccines until you start school. Getting shots is no fun at all, but you were happy you got a lollipop and a sticker as a reward after it was all done. The doctor said you are meeting all of your milestones, height and weight are perfect and you are a healthy little boy! I am so happy and proud of the amazing little boy you are growing into!

       After you ate lunch and took a nice long nap I took you over to Nana's house to play. As you can see from the picture Nana took, you had a lot of fun and got out every toy in the closet! You made a big mess, but you had so much fun playing and hanging out. While you were at Nana's house I went home and had some Mommy time, which meant relaxing and enjoying the quiet for a few hours. I can tell you had lots of fun playing by how easily you fell asleep at bedtime tonight. You are so loved by so many and we are blessed beyond measure to have such a wonderful family. I love you Leon!

Spring Sunshine & Strawberries With Whipped Cream!

An Afternoon Stroll in the Sunshine.

A Yummy Treat!

Leon,

       The sun decided to come out from behind the clouds today and it became a beautiful spring day! After we ate lunch with Daddy and he went back to work, you and I went for a nice walk out in the sunshine. We got some fresh air, ran a few errands and walked home. As soon as we got back to the house you fell fast asleep in your stroller and took a much needed nap while I did some house cleaning.

       You woke up from your nap in a happy but hungry mood. I thought some strawberries and a little whipped cream would be the perfect yummy snack for a beautiful day like today. You agreed and ate all your strawberries and every last bit of whipped cream in your bowl. A sweet treat for my sweet boy. Today for sure was a very sweet day. I love you Leon!

Icecream!

       As you can tell by this post being posted a day late, Mommy needs to blog before your bedtime. Last night we must have been really tired, because Daddy and I fell asleep with you after reading your bedtime story! At least we all got a really good nights sleep!
       I made baked chicken breasts and cheesey stuffed mushrooms for dinner last night. You were such a good boy and ate all of your chicken and mushrooms! We decided after we finished dinner that we would take you to get a mini icecream cone as a treat! When we got you your icecream cone you got so excited, the look on your face was priceless! You ate all of the icecream out of the cone and said "All gone!" but you wouldn't eat the cone. You wanted us to refill the cone! One icecream cone was plenty for you my silly boy! I love you Leon!

Bath Time Shower Sprinkler!

Cold Water is Fun!

Leon,

       Sitting in your nice warm bubble bath you got bored, and a little thirsty. So Daddy thought it would be a good idea to turn on the shower, turn on the cold water and then give you the shower head. What resulted was lots of laughter and water all over Daddy and the bathroom floor. You sprayed yourself in the face with the ice cold water again and again saying "Cold!" and bursting into giggles. I didn't even care about the huge mess you made, because you are just too cute and you were having so much fun. This continued until you began to shiver as your bath water became very cold. Daddy then wrapped you in a big soft towel to dry you off. You put on your warm fleece pajamas and we snuggled up to read a few books before bedtime. You and Daddy are now sound asleep, so I think I will go mop up the big mess you made in the bathroom and then head to bed. Sweet dreams my silly little boy! I love you Leon!

A New Toy!

Happy Birthday!

Leon,

       Today was a fun day and you got suprised with a late birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa! You were so excited when you opened up your present and saw that it was a slide! You can climb up one side that looks like a rock wall and slide down the other. It also has a little basketball hoop that you think is awesome! I think you played on it for an hour straight when we first set it up, and then another hour or so before bedtime! I think you like your new toy. One thing is for sure, it is a great way to tire you out! After your bubble bath and bedtime story you quickly fell asleep. Sweet dreams Leon, we will play and slide more tomorrow! I love you!

Lullaby

Goodnight Leon

Leon,

       I love to sing to you, I have since you were born. When you were an infant I made up a lullaby for you and I still sing it to you today, but I changed a line to include your baby sister.

 

Goodnight moon, goodnight stars

Goodnight Mom and Dad

Baby sister too, goodnight to you

Goodnight goodnight goodnigt.

 

It is short and simple, but I sing it to you a few times and you relax and fall asleep. The other night you were even trying to sing along with me, which made me smile. You would whisper "moon, stars, mom, dad, baby, you, night night." as I sang each line.

       There is another song I made up one day while rocking you to sleep as a tiny baby. You fell asleep in my arms as I sang.

The Creative Mind of a Toddler

Playdough Time!

Leon,

       Running around being silly and playing is a lot of fun, but sometimes you get overwhelmed and we need to tone it down with a quieter activity. After a good hour of playing with your cars and riding your tricycle up and down the hallway at full speed, we sat down and opened up a new tub of playdough. You love rolling the playdough into balls and then smooshing it with your hands, but today you tried something new. You rolled the bright green playdough into a long shape and then held it up making the "Ssssssss" sound. I asked you "Did you make a snake?" and you said "Yeah!" You set it down and made a few more, lining them up in a row. You then pointed at each one and said "Sssss! Mommy, Daddy, Baby!" You had made a little playdough family of snakes! Some days I am truly amazed by how smart and creative you are becoming. I love you Leon!

What's on Your Mind?

Lost in Thought

Leon,

       While taking your bubble bath tonight you were having a conversation with yourself. You sat as if lost in thought, looking up with a contemplative look on your face. Using all the words you know you began a monolog that went a little something like this: "Bubbles, bubbles. Fun! Its fun! Mommy, Daddy. *untranslatable babbling* Bye-bye...Oh! Uh-oh! Ok! Sun, sky...night night. *more babbling*" This continued on until I took a picture of you with my camera, to which you gave me a very offended look for interrupting you. In those moments when you are lost in thought I truly wonder what it is you are thinking about. I love listening to you talk, even when I have no idea what you are saying. I love you Leon!

Playing With Daddy

Video Games!

       When getting ready for bed our usual routine is dinner, bath, read a book and go to sleep. Some evenings are special and you get to play a video game with Daddy. This evening you and Daddy played the new Rayman game for the Xbox 360. Daddy played, and although your controler was turned off you thought you were playing as well. You "helped" Daddy win and at the end of the level said "Yay!" It was a sweet moment seeing you two laying on the bed, controlers in hand playing together. I love you Leon!

Oreos and Learning The Alphabet

Milk & Cookies

Leon,
       After lunch you and I both were wanting something sweet to eat. Luckily there were some mini oreos left over from when I made your birthday cake. So we both sat down together and had some oreos and milk as a treat! Now that you are a big 2 year old your vocabulary is expanding every day! One of your new favorite words is cookie, of course. I get so excited and feel so proud with every new word you learn.

       We are working on learning the alphabet as well. I was so proud and suprised when you started pointing out letters in your story book last night at bed time. You found every "O" and "I" pointing them out excitedly. You are such a smart little boy, and I enjoy helping you learn new things every day! I love you Leon!

Playing at Home

Big Boy Table!

       Yesterday was your birthday party, and one of your gifts was a cool big boy table with chairs. You love to sit at your new table and color, watch cartoon and eat snacks. You got all of the chairs out and started placing them around the table saying "Mommy, Daddy, Me!" pointing at each chair. You wanted us to sit with you at your table to color and play. You are such a big boy now with all of your new big boy toys! Don't grow up too fast ok? I love you Leon! :)

Party Time!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Leon's "Vroom vroom" Cake!

Leon,

       Your birthday fell on a Monday this year, so we decided to wait until this weekend to have your party. Last night I baked you a double layer chocolate cake and then decorated it to look like cars on a race track. You love anything to do with cars, or "vroom vrooms" as you call them. I used mini oreos (your favorite cookies) as tires around the cake. It was so much fun to make, and tasty to eat! Daddy got you a pinata that we filled full of candy! You and your cousins had so much fun breaking it open and getting all the candy. Your favorites were all the suckers, so you grabbed as many as you could. Opening presents was so much fun! After two years of practice you knew exactly what to do. You tore open each gift excitedly, knowing that there was something special inside for you. You were super excited about the "choo-choo" trains you got. They came with an awesome train track that Daddy and I will set up for you tomorrow.

       After an eventful and fun filled day you were ready to crash. When we got home you ate dinner, took a bubble bath to calm down, and then snuggled up with Daddy and I. You were asleep within minutes, exhausted from all the excitement of the day. On April 1st 2011 you were born, and today we celebrated that wonderful day. I can't tell you enough how much you have blessed all of our lives in the last two years. I am the happiest Mommy in the world because of you, and I look forward to each new year I get to be your Mommy and watch you grow. I love you Leon, my sweet son.

Music With Daddy

       Tonight after your bubble bath you and Daddy were listening to music. You love anything with a good beat and lots of drums. It was so cute to see you dancing around and drumming to the beat of each song. Music is in you, it has been since before you were born. When the music was over Daddy asked you "Would you like to listen to one more song?" to which you replied "Yeah!" very enthusiastically. I love to see you dance and sing, enjoying life and being happy. You are a wonderful and spirited little boy, and I am so blessed to be your Mommy! I love you Leon!

Sick Day at Home

Nap Time With Mama

       A cold has struck our house, now you, Daddy and I are sick. Today Daddy had to go to work, but you and I stayed home and rested. We spent the majority of the day in our pajamas watching movies and drinking tea with honey. The weather outside has been rainy and cold so it wasn't too bad staying indoors. Even when you are sick you have loads of energy and you want to play all day. We did a lot of coloring pictures and reading books today because I was so tired. After Daddy came home for lunch, which you were really happy about, we ate lunch and then you and I got ready for nap time. We snuggled up with a couple of your favorite books and read for awhile. Quickly you fell asleep with your head resting on my shoulder. I was so comfortable snuggling with you that I fell asleep too. I love our snuggle time together. I love you Leon! I pray we all start feeling better soon.

Camera Silly Time & Feeling Baby Kick

Everyday You Make Me Smile :)

Leon,

       You love mirrors, cameras and pretty much anything that shows your reflection. You are an adorable and a handsome little man, and of course you know that. Once you discovered the camera on my laptop you wanted to take lots and lots of pictures. I was giggling as I watched you make silly faces and pose infront of the computer screen taking picture after picture. I love you, my little goofball!

       You felt your baby sister move for the first time! While laying down with Daddy and I you put your head on my belly. The baby was moving around a lot. You pushed your face down on my belly and your baby sister kicked back! You sat up really fast with a suprised look on your face and said "Baby?!" I said "Yes, the baby is kicking and wiggling in Mommy's belly. Did you feel the baby move?" You put your hand on my belly and felt another kick. It was so cute to see you so excited and curious about the baby. I can't wait until you can meet your baby sister. You will be a wonderful big brother. I love you Leon!

A Suprise For Mommy!

A DISHWASHER! HALLELUJAH!

And you LOVE your new giant cardboard box to play in!

       Along with starting a family comes a lot of dishes on a daily basis. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and baking all make for a sink full of dishes. Daddy was sneaky and suprised me with a brand new dishwasher for my birthday! It came a little late, so it really was a big suprise! After going without a dishwasher for the past two and a half years it feels great to have one again! Growing up in a home with a dishwasher I really took for granted the convenience of having one. With your new baby sister coming in July it will be amazing to have the dishwasher to help keep up on the added dishes. Of course the dishwasher came in a giant cardboard box, so we gave it to you to play in. You love it and have now turned it into your little hiding place. You are currently sitting in it with a blanket draped over one end. You filled it with your toys and are happily playing, occasionally peaking out and giggling. I guess you and Mommy both got a new toy today! I love you Leon!

2 Years Old Today!

       Two years ago today you were born and I held you for the first time. It was love at first sight! I held you in my arms and thought "He is perfect!" Over the last two years you have grown and changed so much, but you are still my sweet baby boy and I love you more than ever! I have learned a lot about being a Mommy and you have taught me about a love I never new exsisted. I never knew so much love could fit in my heart! You are my son, my silly little boy and my best little friend! You are no longer an itty bitty baby, you are a big boy, but you will always be my baby. I am so proud of the wonderful, silly, curious, loving and smart little boy you are becoming. I love you with all my heart Leon!
