Easter Eggs & Fun!

Time for sleep.

Leon,

       You had such a fun filled Easter weekend! Three easter egg hunts, a wonderful church service and lots of family fun time makes for a busy and blessed weekend. After yesterday's long day you didn't fall asleep until really late, so getting up early for church this morning was hard. You looked so handsome today in the new suit that Nana bought for you, and you had a great time at church. We came home and had lunch and then it was time for a nap to recharge. Things didn't slow down for long, because as soon as you woke up for your nap we were off to an Easter egg hunt at your Tia and Tio's house with your cousins. You filled your bucket with eggs, which you were very proud of. We then headed to Nana and Papa's house to visit and hunt for more Easter eggs! You had a blast searching the den for all the eggs, eating candy and playing with Nana and Papa. Soon you began to show signs that it was getting close to bed time, so we headed home for the night. After dinner and a warm bath you were more than ready for sleep. What a fun and exhausting weekend we had! We are a blessed family indeed! I love you Leon! Happy Easter!

A Day of Play & Fun in the Sun!

Coloring your first Easter eggs!

Leon,

       Today was a beautiful sunny spring day, with lots of play time outside, coloring Easter eggs at Nana and Papa's house and an Easter egg hunt at church! This was your first time ever coloring eggs, and it was a big fun mess! You did a very nice job and made some pretty and unique looking Easter eggs.

       It was such a fun packed day that by the time we finished the Easter egg hunt around 2:30pm you were completely worn out. When we got home you napped for almost 2 hours! Mommy and Daddy were tired too, but we enjoyed spending such a fun day together as a family. Now it is time for me to get some sleep as well, because tomorrow is Easter and will be another busy day. My Handsome Little Man

Posing For the Camera!

Leon,

       This morning Grandma came by and gave you a fun Easter bag of goodies. You loved the M&M's and Peeps, but your favorite thing was the cool markers and coloring paper. Mommy loves it too, because it is the special markers that only color on the special paper, which means less mess for Mommy to clean up!

       After your nap this afternoon we went shopping with Nana and got you a handsome outfit to wear to church on Easter Sunday. While we were shopping you practiced saying all sorts of new words. I was so impressed by how many things you said! We would say a word and you would repeat it. In the past few weeks your vocabulary has more than doubled. I am so proud of the smart little boy you are, and I can't believe how fast you are growing and learning. I love you Leon, my smart and handsome little man!

Going "Vroom!"

"Can I Drive?"

Leon,

       While trying to get your carseat into Grandma's (my Mama) truck I set you on the passenger seat and asked you to wait for me. Being the curious little boy you are you decided you would climb over to the driver seat. You sat down excitedly saying "Vroom vroom!" Thankfully you didn't figure out how to beep the horn. You looked so tiny sitting in front of the stearing wheel. It is hard to imagine that one day you will be all grown up and driving. I'm not ready for that yet. For now I will enjoy you being the young, curious little boy you are. Plenty of time for growing up! Don't grow up too fast! I love you Leon!

Sleeping Late

A Relaxing Morning

Leon,

       I try to get up each weekday morning and make your Daddy breakfast before he goes to work. This morning I got up a little after 6am and made him breakfast, but then I crawled back into bed since you were still sleeping. Snuggled up with you in the king size bed we were so comfortable that we both slept until it was nearly 9am. Slowly we got up, turned on some cartoons and I made breakfast for the both of us. We ate our toast and a fruit smoothie and enjoyed a relaxing morning together. I love mornings like these. Every once in a while it is good to sleep late and have a lazy day. I love even more that I get to spend my days (lazy or productive) with you. I love you Leon!

I Love To Hear You Laugh

Tickle Time!

Leon,

       This afternoon when you woke up from your nap you climbed out of bed and ran down the hall to the living room where I was folding laundry. You climbed up onto my lap and said "Mommy!" while giving me a big hug. I love when you wake up so happy and full of love. You just sat there looking at me smiling, so I started tickling you until you were giggling uncontrollably. Every time I would stop you would say "Again, again!" so I would tickle you some more. This went on for about 10 minutes until we were both laughing and out of breath. I love to hear you laugh and see you smile. I love how you make me laugh and smile every day. I love you Leon!

A Peaceful Nap

Sweet Dreams

Leon,

       Your nap time is usually my house cleaning time, but today I was tired and decided to relax instead. You slept for a full hour and woke up happy and ready to play. I was so happy to see you wake up in a good mood. This past week you have been waking up with night terrors a lot, especially during your naps. We are getting you back into a good daily rutine and scheduel and that seems to be helping. I think making sure you have a filling lunch before you take your nap and a filling dinner before bedtime is helping you sleep better and you don't get the night terrors. Tonight for dinner I made chicken and dumpling soup, one of your favorites, and you ate a big bowl plus some of Daddy's. You just finished a calming bubble bath, so it is time for snuggles and sleep. Mommy's Birthday

Little Love Bug

Leon,

       Today was Mommy's birthday! I am 23 years old now and I can't believe how fast the last few years have gone by. This evening we went to dinner at a fun resturant with some of our family to celebrate. You had so much fun playing with your cousins and being silly. I love this picture of you and your cousin Sydney, it is so sweet. It feels like just yesterday she was a little toddler like you. How fast time flies and we all get older, but as we get older our lives continue to be filled with little blessings like you. I love you Leon, my little love bug. Thank you for making my birthday a happy and blessed day!

Revolve Tour 2013

Leon,

       Yesterday I went with our church's youth group to help take 15 girls to the Revolve Tour. Revolve is an anual convention where thousands of young girls gather to hear amazing speakers and singers tell them all about God's love for them. It was a wonderful event and I learned a lot and I am so thankful I got to be a part of it.

       While I was away you spent the day hanging out with Daddy, so who knows what mischief you got into. I got home pretty late, but you were still awake. My favorite part of the whole day was when you saw me as I got home. You looked at me with so much excitement and love in your eyes and said "Mama, my Mommy!" and gave me a big hug and kiss! I missed you too, even if it was only one day. I love you Leon!

A Great Day & Some Sunshine

A Snack & A Stroll

Leon,

       Rising early today I drank a cup of coffee and began working on the chores that needed to be done. You woke up early as well and had breakfast while watching cartoons as I finished cleaning the kitchen. After lunch time the sun was shining and although it was a little chilly, it was a beautiful day for a walk. I put you in your stroller with a snack and we headed off for a nice walk. After all of the rainy days it was so nice to get out and walk in the sun. You fell asleep on the walk back home, just as planned. I thank God for great days like today. I feel so blessed and happy. I love you my sweet son Leon!

Baking With Mommy

Pumpkin Apple Muffins

Yum!

Leon,

       As you can tell by the time Mommy is posting very late tonight. That is because I fell asleep trying to get you to fall asleep. I was so comfortable snuggling with you that before I knew it I had drifted off to sleep as well.

      Today you and I had lots of fun baking pumpkin apple muffins. You were very helpful in the kitchen, but you had more fun eating them once they were done. They turned out so yummy and the awesome part is that they are good for you! I think I will rename the recipe "Trick-your-kid-into-eating-healthy Muffins." With each bite you took you would nod your head dramaticly saying "Yum, yum, yum!" When Daddy came home for his lunch he had three of them, so I know they have to be good! I love you Leon!

Bath Book & Bed

Making a Splash!

 Baths Are Fun!

Leon,

       You are a silly boy and always make me laugh. Tonight while taking your bath you took the big cup, filled it with water and poured it on your head! You kept doing this over and over while laughing and splashing. After you were all done playing and getting clean, you had managed to splash most of your bath water all over Mommy and the floor. Exhausted from all that hard work you wanted to snuggle and read a book. We put on our PJs and layed down to read your new book "Waiting For Baby." You loved the book and wanted to read it four times before finally going to sleep. It is helping you understand that there is a baby in Mommy's tummy and that soon the baby will come and be with us. You are such a sweet and loving little boy. You said "night night" to the baby and kissed my belly before going to bed. I know you are going to be such a good big brother when your baby sister is born. I love you Leon! My Sonshine

I Love You!

Leon,

       You inspired me to draw today by how you woke up both yesterday and today from your nap. When you woke up you sat up in your bed and called out for me yelling "Mama? Mommy?" I opened the door to your room and said "Good morning Sweetpea! Did you have a good nap?" You grabbed your blanket and handed it to me, then you lifted both of your arms up to me and said "Mama!" I picked up you and got a big snuggly hug and a kiss. Waking up from your nap some afternoons all you want to do is snuggle with Mommy and watch cartoons. That is perfectly ok with me, because snuggling with you always makes my day that much better. You make me smile and warm my heart. I love you Leon, my sweet sonshine!

Climbing Expedition

"Uh-oh! Mommy caught me!"

Leon,

       As you get older you get more curious and even more brave. I found you this morning in the middle of the dining room table having a conversation with our kitty who was sitting on the window sill. I got my camera to take a picture of you and said "Leon, what are you doing?" You gave me the "Uh-oh, Mommy caught me being naughty" look. I took a couple of pictures before telling you that climbing on the table is a "no-no" because you could fall and get an owie. You said sorry and gave me a hug and ran off to play. I haven't caught you on the table since so I hope you have learned your lesson, but I will be keeping a closer eye on you. I know that as you grow you will be curious and want to test your limits and boundaries, but just remember everything Mommy tells you is to keep safe and help you make the right decisions. I love you Leon, my curiously brave little boy!

Trampoline in the Livingroom

Jumping Until Bedtime!



Leon,
       Right now you are jumping on a mini trampoline in the middle of our living room. Last week while taking a nice walk through our neighborhood we stopped at a garage sale, where Daddy found and bought you your very own trampoline. Watching you bounce and giggle, with Daddy's help, makes me smile. It also makes me wonder how such a tiny person can have so much energy. I can see it in your eyes that bedtime is comming soon. Here in a few minutes you will take a relaxing bath before putting on your pajamas and sleep will soon follow. I think we are all looking forward to a good night's rest. My Little Boy

 

Growing Up So Fast!

 

Leon,

       Since you were just a few days old you have loved your binki. In the last few months you got super attatched to it and always had to have it with you. Then one day you lost the only one we had left. So instead of buying a new one we told you that you had lost it and that it was all gone. The first night it was gone you cried a little when you were trying to sleep. Now it has been exactly one week since it disappeared and it is as if you completely forgot about it! I thought it would be a huge battle to get rid of your pacifier, but it ended up being one of the easiest transistions so far. I was so happy that you took this big step in becoming a big boy, but it is a bitter sweet feeling. I am so proud of you and the amazing little boy you are turning into, but I feel a little sad at the thought of you growing up so fast and becoming a big boy. You will continue to grow and change and I will be proud of you each step of the way, but you will always be my baby boy. I love you with all my heart Leon and I am so proud of you my big boy!

Adorable Mess

Noodle Art

Leon,

       You love to, and are very good at, making big messes for me to clean up. When you had finished your lunch of noodles with chicken and alfredo sauce you decided to make wall art with the remaining saucey noodles. Before I realized what you were doing there were noodles on the wall, curtains, floor and dining room table, as well as all over your highchair and yourself. You were thouroughly enjoying playing in your mess, and seeing that it really couldn't get much worse I let you continue for a few minutes. Many napkins and wipes later you were all clean and full of energy to play. You make lots of messes every day, and it can sometimes feel like following and cleaning up after a tornado, but I enjoy every moment of it and feel so blessed to be your Mommy. I love you Leon!

Stickers are fun...

but not easy to get off hardwood floors.

Leon,

       Stickers, once you discovered them you loved them. You have a sticker book that you love to play with when we have arts and crafts time. I made the mistake of leaving the book within your reach, resulting in a decorated floor in my living room. You looked so cute and seemed so proud of your sticker art that I just couldn't be mad at you. I did however tell you that stickers go on paper in your sticker book, not on floors and walls, but that was after I took a picture of course. I got most of the stickers off, but three stuborn ones remain stuck. I will try scrubbing them off with some "Goo-gone" cleaner sometime later. Thank you for filling my every days with such fun and silly memories. I love you Leon, my little mischief maker!

 

p.s. You made my night tonight when you said "Mommy" for the first time ever! You have always called me Mama, which I love, but it was so cute to hear you say Mommy! Then Daddy said "Do you love Mommy?" and you replied with "I do!" Hearing you say that made me the happiest Mommy in the world!

Two Year Old Molars

Chewing on Popsicles

Leon,

       Waking up from your afternoon nap today was not pleasant. You woke up crying and very upset. After a while I realized it was your mouth that was bothering you. I checked your gums and discovered that one of your two year old molars was trying to break through and that is what was upsetting you so much. I asked you if you wanted a popsicle and you replied with a nod yes while still crying. After two frozen fruit pops, a bowl of frozen blueberries and some Tylenol you were feeling much better. At bedtime tonight I gave you some more Tylenol. I am hoping your new tooth will cut through while you are sleeping and that tomorrow you will be feeling much better. If not we have plenty of popsicles and frozen fruit to chew on to help numb the pain. I love you Leon!

Sleepover!

Night Night

Leon,
       Tonight you and I are spending the night at Nana's house while Papa is out of town. You are sweetly snuggled up with Nana right now sleeping peacefully. You are such a sweet boy, and I love how much you are loved by your family. We are truly blessed. Going to sleep somewhere other than home is always strange, but after a bedtime prayer, some quiet lullabye music and snuggles you were soon fast asleep.        This evening I was busy in the kitchen cooking dinner. I stepped out into the living room to see what you and your Daddy were up to. What I saw was adorable and made me smile. You were laying on Daddy's shoulder sitting on the couch and watching cartoons. I had to take a picture of you two and capture that sweet moment. I love you and your Daddy so much!

       I love your personality. As you have grown your personality has developed as well, and you are becoming a wonderful little boy. You love to play, show off and be silly. This afternoon you were "zooming" your trike up and down the hallway and into the living room. You rolled up to your Daddy, who had his camera out, and pointing at him you said "Hey!" Then you giggled and continued "zooming" around the house. I love that your Daddy took this picture, because it captures your personality perfectly. I love you Leon, my silly little boy!

Toddler Attitude

Leon,

       You are not camera shy at all, in fact there are times where you show off for the camera. There are also times you defiantly do the opposite of what I want you to do. This afternoon I was trying really hard to get a picture of you smiling. You caught on to this and decided you were not going to smile or allow me to take a picture of you at all. I finally bribed you with a piece of candy in order to get this cute photo of you smiling. Lately you have been this way with many things and it is one of those things we are working on. I know you are simply being independent, pushing limits, testing boundaries, and generally being a two year old. You are a very strong willed little boy. Even in those moments where you test my patience, you make me smile and I am grateful to be your Mommy. They call them the "terrible two's", but I wouldn't say terrible, challenging for sure, but not terrible. I love you Leon!

Super Sunny Day!

Leon,

       We woke up this morning to a super sunny day! I knew we had to take advantage of the good weather and get outside to play, so we started with a walk to Nana's house! We brought Nana a yummy treat and stayed awhile to play and visit. Then, being close to nap time we walked home. I expected you to fall asleep on the way home, but you had other plans. Since you were still awake and not ready to nap we played in the yard for awhile to burn some energy.

       After lunch and a nice nap you were ready to play some more, so we ran around the yard exploring and looking at bugs and flowers. Now Daddy is home from work and the sun is still shining, so we are off for another walk. Maybe we will go to the park and play for a little while before dinner time. Today has been a blessed and beautiful day! I love you Leon!

All in a Day's Play

My Little Cutie-Pie!

Leon,
       No matter what time of day, you love to play. Lately your favorite things to play with are your mega blocks and your "vroom vrooms" (cars.) You love when we build tall towers of blocks on the floor in your room, just so you can run and crash through them, scattering them all over. You love "vrooming" all of your cars and trucks up and down the hallway. By the end of the day your room can become a complete mess, so Mommy came up with a game to help you clean up. We sit on the floor and see who can pick up more toys. Then we put all the blocks in one basket, all the cars in another, and all your little toys in your toy box. This has made clean up time a lot more productive, and you think it is a fun game! Now every morning when you get up to play you have a clean room to play in, and make a brand new mess!

Our Busy Day

Nap Time in Your Carseat

Time For Snacks! Yummy Oranges!

Leon,

       Our day began at 6:30am when we got up to take Daddy to work. I made breakfast sandwhiches and we quickly got in the car. After dropping Daddy off at work you and I drove down to my favorite spot in town that overlooks the ocean. There we ate our breakfast and listened to KLOVE on the radio, a great way to start our day.

       When you woke up from your afternoon nap later in the day you were really hungry and wanted a snack. Fruit is always your favorite snack, so I peeled an orange for you, which you devoured in minutes. You still wanted more so I filled a bowl with one of your favorite treats, raspberries! You love berries of all kinds and would eat them for every meal if I would let you. At least it is a healthy treat!

       Our day ended with a much needed trip to the grocery store and a yummy home cooked dinner of chicken, pasta and roasted veggies. You ate all the pasta and played with the rest of course. Now it is nearing bed time, so it is time for pajamas and snuggles. I am looking forward to a good night's sleep! I love you Leon!

Learning About Baby

A New Book

Leon,

       Your baby sister will be here in July, so for now we wait and get ready for baby. I found this book online today and decided to buy it for you. It will be here soon and we can read it together and learn about the baby that is comming soon. Right now you love to rub my tummy and talk to the baby. Tonight you said "Baby, night night?" and I told you "Yes, baby is going night night. She is sleeping and growing in Mommy's tummy right now." You smiled and hugged my belly. You are such a sweet little boy, and you will be a great big brother when your baby sister gets here! I love you Leon!

A Busy Sunday

Time For a Good Night's Sleep 

Leon,

       Sundays are usually busy days, but today was more so than usual. We went to church and enjoyed wonderful worship and a great sermon. Then we went and visited Nana for awhile until it was time for your nap. We drove around in the car until you fell asleep. By the time you were asleep it was time for us to be at a "going away lunch" for two good friends of ours who are moving away. You got a 20 minute cat nap and then woke up ready for lunch. You loved the all you can eat buffet, especially the chocolate icecream cone you got for dessert. You were a mess, but you were a happy and adorable mess.

       After lunch we came home and decided to go for a walk in the beautiful sunshine. We walked around our neighborhood and then to the church for the farwell party for our friends. When the party was over it was time for us to go to your Abuelito and Abuelita's house for dinner and a movie. You fell asleep and took a short nap while we were there, but that didn't last long. Soon you were up and ready to play and even ate some chocolate cake. After the movie it was late so we got into the car to head home. You were asleep in your car seat in no time.

       It was a long and busy day, but we had lots of fun. Tomorrow will be busy too, for Mommy, as there are lots of chores to get caught up on from this weekend. Goodnight and sweet dreams Leon, I love you!

Big Boy Haircut

Handsome Little Man

Leon,

       You have very thick and fast growing hair, so a hair cut was needed. We went to Grandma's house today so she could cut your hair. We set your high chair in the living room, put a movie on the TV and gave you a popsicle before beginning the process of giving you a haircut. We thought that since Grandma was doing your haircut you would be ok with it, but we were mistaken. You seem to be terrified of the hair clippers, and did not like it one bit. You made it through bravely and now you have a handsome big boy haircut! You look so grown up! I can't believe you will be 2 years old on April 1st! My sweet son, I am so proud of the smart, silly and loving little boy you are growing up to be. I love you so much Leon!

TGIF & Date Night

Mommy (20 weeks pregnant) ready for date night with Daddy!

       Tonight your Daddy and I went out on a date. Grandma came over to hang out with you while Mommy and Daddy went out with a couple of friends for dinner. It is good for mommies and daddies to go out and have alone time together. We had lots of fun and ate good food. When we came home we thought you would for sure be asleep, but you proved us wrong. You were wide awake, fighting sleep because there was so much to do and play. You greeted me with a big hug, which is my favorite, and wanted to snuggle with your blanket. Now you are in bed fast asleep after fighting sleep for so long.
