Early Morning Snuggles

Watching Cartoons

Leon,

       This morning you woke up early, which is slowly becoming the new normal. All you wanted to do was snuggle on the couch with some blankets, some milk and watch cartoons. Most days you wake up a ball of energy, but some days you just want to take it easy and have a quiet morning. After some cartoons and breakfast you were ready for the day, full of energy to run and play. I am so happy I get to spend all the quiet mornings, and the crazy ones too, with you! I love you Leon, and I love being your Mommy!

Laundry Helper

"Helping" With The Laundry

Leon,

       Today was a cleaning day, so Mommy spent the day getting caught up on chores. You decided you wanted to help with the laundry, but instead of helping fold the laundry you piled it all up and jumped in! You had more fun making a mess than cleaning, but that is your job. You always make me smile and laugh, my silly boy! I love you Leon!

Why Can't It Always Be This Easy

Nap Time

Leon,

       Today you did something you have never done before. When it came time for a nap you crawled into your bed with your simba stuffed animal and used your giant teddy bear as a pillow. You pointed at your TV, which meant you wanted to watch a movie. I put Finding Nemo on and left the room to go clean up the mess from lunch. I went back in to check on you a few minutes later and you were fast asleep! For the first time ever you actually put yourself down for a nap. I was suprised at how easily nap time came today, when just yesterday it was a battle. I smiled at how cute you looked all snuggled up with blankets and stuffed animals. You are such a sweet little boy. I love you Leon!

Nap Time at Last

Fell Asleep Eating a Snack

Leon,

       Getting up before 7am I figured you would take an early nap today, and I was wrong. After lunch I put on a movie and tried to get you to lay down for nap time. This worked for about 5 minutes, and then it was like you had a second burst of energy. You were bouncing off the walls, and the more I fought you to calm down the more riled up you got. Half an our of this went by when I finally decided to put you in your high chair to have a snack. Being confined in your chair and forced to be still you slowly calmed down. You ate your snack, drank all your milk and began nodding off. Finally you were asleep and the house was quiet. I carried you to your bed were you slept for an hour. I couldn't help but smile as I looked at your peaceful face while you slept. I am reminded again at how blessed I am to have you, my son. I love you Leon, and I love being your Mama!

Dinner at Nana and Papa's House

Spaghetti!

Leon,

       Sundays are family days. Tonight we went over to Nana and Papa's house for dinner. We had yummy spaghetti, and you loved it! You especially loved it when Nana taught you how to slurp up the noodles. You were very proud of yourself once you figured out how to do it. After dinner we played with all your toys in the toy room. You ran and laughed and played until you were tired and sweaty, so we decided to give you a bubble bath. You got a special new toy to play with in the bath, special crayons to color on the tub and walls! Nana and Papa's shower walls are now covered in your beautiful crayon murals. When your bath was finished we put on your pjs since it was just about time to go home and go to bed. You snuggled up with Papa in the recliner and instantly relaxed. We could tell it was time for sleep. We got in our car to head home, even though you wanted to stay and play. Five minutes later you were fast asleep. I think today was a very good day. My Snuggle Bug

Leon,

       You love snuggling with Mommy and Daddy, and you love the comfy king size bed. Every morning I get to wake up to your sweet little face. You always wake up happy and full of energy with a big smile on your face. Every day you wake up eager to play, have fun and learn something new. That makes me smile. You make me smile. I love you Leon, my happy baby boy!

Chocolate Pudding!

A Yummy Mess!

Leon,

       As a treat after lunch I gave you a cup of chocolate pudding. You took a bite and said "Yummmm!" You usually love using a spoon like a big boy, but in this case you decided it would be much more effective to use your hands! Through excited giggles and "yums" you shoved fistfuls of chocolate pudding into your mouth. Using the extra pudding on your hands you began to finger paint a mural of chocolate smears on your high chair tray as well as the nearby wall. A bath soon followed this messy activity, as well as lots of clean up for Mama. There is never a dull moment with you around, my little mess maker, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I love you Leon!

Webcam Fun



Leon,

       Growing up in this generation you get to grow up with lots of technology. When I was little cameras used film, so we didn't take hundreds of pictures like we do today. Now we have digital cameras, cell phone cameras and even cameras built into our computers. I have thousands of photos of you that I have taken from the time you were born. You have discovered the camera on our computer and you love seeing yourself on the screen and taking silly pictures. I love that I can look back at all these photos, all of our memories any time I want to. I love you Leon, my photogenic little boy!

Well, Mommy Needed To Mop Anyway...

Uh-Oh!

Leon,

       This afternoon when it was getting close to nap time you wanted a snack. I thought I would give you a treat and make a yummy smoothie! I blended up some raspberries, strawberries and whole milk and filled your sippy cup. I turned around to grab something and I heard a splash! Turning around I saw you holding your sippy cup upside down above your head. Smoothie was running down your hair, clothes, legs and feet. Looking up at me in shock you said "Uh-oh!" Being the responsible Mommy I am I ran to get the camera so I could document this moment. You can guess what happened next. Carefully I carried you to the shower to spray you off, which you thought was very fun. A shower and clean PJs later we finally settled down for nap time. At least you are clean now, and so is my floor. I needed to mop anyway. I love you Leon, my little mess maker!

Going For A Walk

       Some days nap time comes easily and willingly. Other days it is a battle of tears and time outs. Today was turning into the latter, so I took advantage of the sunny day, loaded you up in your stroller and went for a walk. You always love going for a walk, and being as tired as you were sleep came quickly and with ease. Mommy got to enjoy a nice walk while we both got some fresh air and you got the nap you desperately needed. I love you Leon, my sleepy boy!

Bubble Bath Time!

Leon,

        You have always loved baths. You love the warm water and playing with your toys. A bath isn't complete without bubbles of course, so we always add some bubble bath to the water. A relaxing bath with lavender chamomile bubble bath helps you get ready for bedtime and has become the nightly rutine at our house. Right now Daddy is giving you your bedtime bath and I can hear you splashing happily saying "Bubble, bubble!" After your bath Daddy and I will snuggle up with you and read a book. It has been a long and fun day, but now it is time for sleep. Sweet dreams Sweetpea!

       Tickling, wrestling, chasing each other and laughing. Those are just a few of the things you and Daddy love to do. Watching you and Daddy play and laugh makes me smile. When The House Is Quiet...

Leon Is Making Messes!

Leon,

       I was in the kitchen washing dishes when I suddenly realized how quiet it was. I quickly went to the living room were you were playing, suspecting mischief of some kind. I walked in to see you pulling all the diapers out of a brand new box of Huggies. Luckily I caught you before you were able to pull out all 162 diapers. I grabbed the camera so I could document your mischief making. I said "Leon did you do a no-no?" to which you responded with "Cheese!" I couldn't help but smile at your adorable face. Being a good boy you helped me pick up all the diapers and clean up the mess. I love you my silly and adorable mess making boy!

Shopping Day

Always Full of Engery!

Leon,
       Today we took a drive with Grandma (my Mama) to go shopping at Costco! You love going to Costco because you know there are always yummy free samples of food there. By the time we finished shopping you had almost eaten a full lunch! After Costco we went to lunch at a great Italian restaurant and ate yummy bread and food. It was a fun day going out of town and hanging out with Grandma. On the way home you slept the entire way. Now we are home and you are a bundle of energy, running up and down the hallway giggling and bouncing off the walls! You are literally running into the walls and doors, bouncing off of them, hitting the ground laughing, and then you get up and repeat. Hopefully after eating dinner and taking a bubble bath you will settle down for bed time. It was a long and fun day! I love you Leon!

Toddler Attitude

Leon,

       There is a word you like to say and it is the answer you give to most questions. That word is no. "Do you want to eat?" "No!" "Is it time to go night night?" "No!" Even when we ask you something silly like, "Do you want to fly to the moon?" your answer is still "No!" When I took this photo today I asked you, "Can I take your picture?" I wasn't suprised that your answer was "No!" You are a toddler and with that comes a new sense of independence, an opinion and an attitude. Yet even with your toddler attitude you are a sweet heart and you make me smile. You love to give big hugs and kisses, you love to snuggle and you are a good little boy. This Mommy is so blessed and happy you are my son! I love you Leon!

Mommy's Little Helper

My Sweet Boy

Leon,

       This little face and this silly smile make my day. I get to spend every day with you and I am so thankful for that privilage. We play games, teach and learn new things, have snuggle time, go for walks and enjoy eachother's company. You are my little buddy, my sweet boy, and I love you so much! You love "helping" Mommy with chores. Today you helped take all the dirty laundry out to the laundry room, and then you "helped" Mommy fold the clean laundry. I say "helped" because your version of folding laundry is unfolding it all as Mommy tries to fold it. Chores may take longer to complete, but your help is appreciated none the less. I love you so much Leon, my sweet boy!

Winter Walks

Ready For A Stroll

Leon,
        During the warmer seasons we would go for walks almost daily. You love riding in your stroller checking out all there is to see outside as we walk. Now that it is winter our walks are not as often, but when the weather is ok we get bundled up and go for a stroll. You have always loved our walks, even as a little baby. It is a great way for Mommy and Daddy to get some exercise, and for you to get some fresh air and sunshine. I am looking forward to this summer when the weather is nice again. One thing will be different this summer, you will have a sibling! I know it will be a great summer together as a family, full of new and exciting adventures! I love you Leon!

Family Movie Night

Puss In Boots!

Leon,

       Tonight we decided it was family movie night! We went to the store and got some vanilla ice cream and rootbeer to make rootbeer floats and rented the movie Puss In Boots. You loved your vanilla ice cream and even licked the bowl when you were done. You sat through all but the last twenty minutes of the movie. I was suprised by how entertained you were by the movie. You really loved all the kitties and the spanish music. When movie night was over you took a bath, got your warm pajamas on and snuggled up with Mommy and Daddy. You are now sleeping peacefully. All in all, tonight was a good night filled with family time and love. The perfect end to a good day. I love you Leon! Sweet dreams baby boy!

Lazy Sunday

PJ Day!

Leon,
       Today we enjoyed a lazy Sunday and spent the majority of the day in our PJs. It was a good day of rest watching movies, snuggling and playing. We attepted to get bundled up and play outside in the yard for a little while, but soon realized it was way too cold. The sunny weather was decieving in the fact that it was actually freezing outside. So we came back inside and I built a fort over the dining room table and chairs using big blankets. You thought this was really cool and had lots of fun hiding under it with your toys. Now we are in our PJs again and it is time for sleep. Sweet dreams Sweetpea! I love you Leon!

       You are full of energy every day. You love to run through the house playing and giggling. I am amazed at how much energy you have from morning until night. I even caught you leaping across the couch like a ninja! I had to smile, because you were having so much fun. Of course you only have so much energy and eventually you crash.

Leon Loves His Kitty

       The day we brought you home as a newborn baby the kitties were not thrilled about the new addition. Over time they got used to you and excepted that you were here to stay. We have three cats, Milo and Ebony are the two black kitties and Angel the calico. Over time Angel has become the one who looks after you and lets you pet her. She even lets you give her hugs. I caught this cute moment on camera today as you snuggled your kitty who was sleeping in the laundry basket. You are such a sweet boy with a loving heart. I love you Leon!

Fighting Sleep

This is the "I don't want to sleep, so I won't" face.

Leon,

       Tonight you went to sleep at bedtime, but most nights this is not the case. Lately you have been a sleep fighter, doing everything possible to avoid going to bed. Your facial expressions as of late have been hilarious and very expressive. We have tried various things to adjust your sleeping habits and have found some things that work. Making sure you get a good nap in the early afternoon is key. A warm bubble bath and then snuggling and reading a book has been helping you getting sleepy as well. Bed time may be a battle at times, but we still find ourselves smiling at the end of the night. You are our little man and as fiesty and oppinionated as you can be, we love you with all our hearts. We are so blessed to be your Mommy and Daddy. We love you Leon!

Singing In The Bath

Leon,

       You love your bath time, especially with bubble bath! Ever since you were a tiny baby you have loved baths. I remember when you were just a few months old I filled your baby bath tub with warm water and when I set you in your whole body relaxed and you smiled! You still love the warm water, but now you also like to play, splash and sing in the bath tub! Tonight while you were playing at bath time you were singing a song, making it up as you went. I couldn't understand everything you were saying but I caught a few words like "ball, dada, mama and bubbles." You are so adorable in everything you do! You always make me smile! I love you Leon!

Old Favorites

Become New Favorites!



Leon,

       The Lion King, a classic Disney movie that came out when I was a little kid. I remember seeing it in the theater when I was only four years old. It soon became my favorite movie and I watched it over and over again. I even had a Lion King tent, a Simba stuffed animal (that is now yours as well), book and sing-a-long cassette tape! Last year for your first birthday Daddy and I bought you the new release of The Lion King on blue ray. We watched it once and you liked it. This week we put it on for you to watch, mainly because we wanted to watch it. You were fascinated and sat watching the movie contently. You especially loved the fun songs like Hakuna Matata, which is Mommy's favorite song too! I think we have now watched The Lion King at least 10 times this week. I love that my old favorite movie has now become your favorite movie. It is as if I am passing down my childhood memories to you. I love you Leon!

El Dia de los Tres Reyes

Rosca De Reyes



Baby Jesus

 

Leon,

       Yesterday, January 6th, was El Dia de los Tres Reyes or Three Kings Day. It is a holiday celebrated in Latin American countries, signifying when the three kings brought their gifts to baby Jesus. I never knew about this holiday until your Daddy and I went to Mexico back in 2007, where we celebrated Christmas, New Years and then Three Kings Day there. Every year since we have celebrated this holiday with your Daddy's side of the family. A big tradition of this holiday is la rosca de reyes, a yummy sweet bread topped with candied fruit. Hidden throughout this tasty desert are little plastic figurines in the shape of baby Jesus. Each member of the family takes a turn cutting into the bread and whoever gets a piece with the baby Jesus in it has to prepare dinner for the whole family on February 2nd, and will have good luck for the year. This year I was lucky enough to get one! We had lots of fun hanging out with family today celebrating this fun holiday. You liked la rosca so much that you had two pieces! I love family traditions like this, and I love that we get to share them with you.

My Handsome Boy!

Leon,

       I just can't get over how much you look like a big boy now! When you got your first big boy hair cut on Christmas Eve I realized how grown up you are becomming. You are almost 2 years old, not a little baby anymore, but you will always be my baby boy. Every stage has been my favorite. From the little wiggly baby stage to the energetic toddler stage, I love it all. Watching you grow each day is a blessing and makes me smile. Watching a movie

Leon,

       I was sitting in the living room folding laundry when I realized it was too quiet. I figured you were up to something, so I walked down the hall to your room. There I found you sitting contently in one of your toy boxes watching your Elmo movie! You looked so cute and silly, so I quietly got my camera and took this picture. I went back to folding laundry and you stayed in your toy box continued watching your movie. You always find ways to make me smile every day, even when you don't know it. I love you Leon, my silly boy!

Cars

Vroom!

Leon,

       When Daddy got home from work this evening we decided to go to the grocery store. You love going to the store and riding in the cart. While browsing up and down the isles a song came on the store radio. It was the opening song from your favorite movie, Cars! Daddy and I noticed right away, since you have watched that movie at least a dozen times. After about five seconds you began to look up and all around with an excited yet confused look on your face. You looked over and Daddy and I and asked "Vroom?" We both started to laugh, we couldn't believe you recognized the song and instantly connected it to the movie. You are a smart little boy! We love you Leon!

My silly/happy/hyper little boy

Leon,

       Still recovering from a yucky cold you are happy and hyper as ever! It amazes me that even when you are sick and don't feel good you have a big smile on your face. You want to run, laugh and play no matter what. This makes me smile. You make me smile and I love you more and more each day! I am so happy I am your Mommy and you are my son. I love you Leon!

Ultrasound

12 weeks

Leon,
       Today Daddy and I went to the hospital to have our first ultrasound. We got to see our little baby wiggling around in Mommy's tummy and we got some cool pictures as well. It feels like just yesterday we were having our ultrasound to see you! Now you are a big brother! In February we will go in again for another ultrasound and find out if you are going to have a little brother or sister. I love our family so much and I love that it is growing. You will be the best big brother! I love you Leon!

1st Cold of The New Year

Popsicle for a sore throat

Leon,
       Around 2am this morning you woke up coughing and crying. My first thought was that you were having another night terror. You fell back asleep with your head on my chest after about 10 minutes. Half an hour later you awoke again. This time I noticed the hoarse sound of your voice and knew you were sick. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep. We spent the day snuggling, eating popsicles and some yummy turkey dumpling soup that grandma brought over for you. I know tonight will be another long night, but we will make it through. It makes me so sad when you are sick and you give me that look that says "Please make it better!" and I can't. All I can do is be your Mama, give you lots of snuggles, some tylenol and wait for it to pass. Goodnight Sweetpea, and I pray you get better soon. I love you Leon!
